All proceeds benefit two organizations serving women in Shaw:
Healthy Families DC at For Love of Children provides support to mothers about their pregnancy, child development, health care and school readiness, and helps parents raise happy, healthy, and developmentally strong children.

N Street Village has provided comprehensive social services for over 30 years for homeless women in Washington, D.C., including safe shelter, transitional housing, and addiction recovery programs.

For Love of Children (FLOC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been protecting children, motivating youth and strengthening families in Washington, DC since its founding in 1965. FLOC has worked with thousands of Washington, DC's most vulnerable children and families.

Their mission is to transform by example and partnership society's response to child abuse, homelessness and educational failure so that children are protected and nurtured, homeless families are financially stable and housed, and high-risk teens are prepared to be responsible and successful adults.

FLOC's vision is a city and a world in which every child is valued by its family, school, and community. For Love of Children serves hundreds of high-risk children in Washington, DC each year with a special emphasis on those from the Shaw section of the city.

If you need to put together a logic model to go with a grant proposal and you don't know where to begin, or if you have put together a logic model and wonder "Is this what it is supposed to be?", you may want to attend a FREE workshop sponsored by Economic Opportunity Studies. Coffee and tea will be provided.

Economic Opportunity Studies (EOS) is a nonprofit charitable corporation based in Washington, D.C. They offer research and analysis that helps identify and develop new opportunities to mobilize and focus resources that change communities and improve the well-being of low- and moderate-income families and individuals. They also offer evaluation support in several forms. Their overall mission is to provide support for community-based organizations, Community Action agencies, and the private and government organizations that are their partners.

"It's Time to Clean House"

This spring, DC Mayor Anthony A. Williams' focus on the environment highlights the important issue of recycling obsolete electronics. As part of the District's celebration of Earth Day, the DC Department of Public Works and the Office of the Clean City Coordinator are partnering with federal agencies, George Washington University and the Dell Corporation to sponsor a special electronics-recycling event.
