The Communication and Development Manger will be responsible for implementing DC Learns fundraising, communications, outreach and member recruitment initiatives. This is ideally a full-time position; however, hours and responsibilities are potentially negotiable for the right candidate seeking less than full-time work.

DC Learns mission is to work with Washington D.C. literacy programs, learners, and supporters to strengthen adult, family, and children's literacy services, and present a strong, unified voice on the importance of literacy as an investment in the community.

Promoting the Achievement of Culturally Diverse Young Males
Event: Mid-Atlantic Equity Center Annual Conference

This conference will be divided into two tracks: 1) psychological and social factors that influence achievement; and, 2) effective policies and practices that support the achievement of boys. Several programs will be highlighted that help to raise the achievement of boys in school.

The conference will be addressing questions such as: What unique challenges do African American and Latino males face as they prepare for their future lives? What can educators, parents, administrators, mental health professionals, and policymakers do to increase their achievement? And most importantly, what can state departments of education, school districts, and schools do to support the highest level of achievement among African American and Latino males?

The mission of the Mid-Atlantic Equity Consortium (MAEC), a not-for-profit corporation, is to create learning environments free of race, gender, class, ethnic and cultural biases so that students of all backgrounds will have equal opportunities to flourish

Tehreema Mitha Dance Company, through the creation of a multi-cultural dance troupe, will teach, produce and present dance and music to individuals and groups of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
