The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities invites the Washington community to celebrate September with DC Grooves. Join the festivites September 29th with Motown in the Downtown. The Temptations Review featuring noted Temptation and crowd favorite Dennis Edwards will perform the greatest hits from one of America?s most famous bands.

DC Grooves precedes the city?s third annual Dance DC Festival which is sponsored by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. The festival features dance performances and workshops from September 29 to October 1.

The Coalition for Nonprofic Housing and Economic Development (CNHED) announces "A Celebration of the DC Housing Producation Trust Fund." Special honorees will be Jalal Greene and Councilmember Jack Evans.

CNHED's mission is to strengthen and support the ability of nonprofit community development organizations to improve the quality of life in the District of Columbia's neighborhoods through advocacy, information sharing, training, capacity building, research and communications.

Community Conversation Forum: Gay, Lesbian, & Transgender Issues

The Community Conversation Forum opens lines of communication between the nonprofit community, the Center for Nonprofit Advancement, and the largest newspaper in the region, The Washington Post. DC Bar Seminars on Nonprofits




For the past several years, Pfizer Inc, in partnership with United Way, has hosted a series of workshops for nonprofit organizations in New York City on a number of legal topics that are important to nonprofit organizations. This year, Pfizer has expanded this program to provide the seminar in several cities via video-conferencing. The law firm of Gibson Dunn & Crutcher has graciously agreed to host a site in Washington D.C. The workshops are free. The first workshop will be Tuesday, October 10th, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.: Revenue Generating Activities and Intellectual Property/Internet Issues for Nonprofits. In addition, they will hold another workshop on Thursday, November 2nd, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The topic will be Key Issues in Employment Law for the Not-for-profit Agenda: Navigating the Rough Road Ahead.
