Event: Shared Futures - General Education for Global Learning
When: Deadline September 7, 2005
Where: Online

The Association of American Colleges and Universities invites institutions to apply to become part of Shared Futures: General Education for Global Learning, a national network of sixteen colleges and universities. Working together, these institutions will use global issues as an organizing framework for creating coherent, integrated general education programs that prepare students for citizenship in a world of global change and interdependence. The project is supported by a generous grant from the Henry Luce Foundation.

Shared Futures: Global Learning and Social Responsibility is a multi-project, national initiative of The Association of American Colleges and Universities' Office of Diversity, Equity, and Global Initiatives. It assumes we live in an interdependent but unequal world and that higher education can help prepare students not only to thrive in such a world but to remedy its inequities. Our recent national tragedy has made it clearer than ever that we are one global community---however fractured and fragile. In such a world, AAC&U seeks to support the academy in its vital role of expanding knowledge about the world's people and problems and advancing democracy and justice both at home and abroad.
