Consortium Volunteer Activity Survey
August 2, 2004
The Consortium's Volunteer Activity Survey is now available online! You can fill the survey out electronically. It should only take about 15 minutes.

Please complete as soon as possible. Students are due back soon and the Consortium of Universities would like to have enough information to demonstrate to the District's elected officials the potential impact of a law mandating federal background checks and fingerprints for all District of Columbia volunteers working with children and youth.

Only one reply is needed per university/agency/org. Thank you in advance.

Partners Needed for Academic Mentoring Program
College Bound, a DC based non-profit, may have turned away atleast 35 students last year due to the inability to recruit additional partners to maintain the one-on-one match of their Academic Mentoring Program. Want to make a difference?

The program serves 8th-12th grade DCPS and DCCS students Each student is paired with one adult volunteer, known as a 'partner,' who both tutors and mentors the student. During the school year, students and partners meet weekly for 2 hours to work together on the student's homework or within College Bound's math or language arts curriculum. Students may also receive assistance with SAT prep and college applications.

Who are College Bound Partners?

* Partners are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of their students.

* Partners are professionals from around the DC metropolitan area who have atleast 4-year degrees.

How can YOU become one?

Contact College Bound at 202-842-0858 or info@collegebound.org for more information and to enroll in their upcoming Partners Orientation session in early September!
