The upcoming presentations will provide an overview of proposed revisions to the Comp Plan, and changes to the city's official Land Use Map. While there have been many opportunities for input over the past 18 months, these presentations will be the first time to hear about the Draft document itself. Other opportunities to weigh-in are planned - including a Mayor's hearing - but the upcoming presentations are your best chance to ask questions and be heard.

Comp Plan Week #3 Presentation Dates and Locations

Positions: Development Asst. & Grants Manager/Development Associate

Title and Description: Development Assistant (#5104) The incumbent is responsible for ensuring administrative aspects of Development office are carried out in a timely and professional manner along with other administrative task. Work closely with Grants Manager/Development Associate and provide research assistance to Grants Manager.
Education: Associates or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Experience: A minimum of three years experience in an administrative position, preferably in a nonprofit development office.
Knowledge: Computer and programs literacy. Excellent organizational, management and interpersonal skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent problem solving skills. Ability to work effectively with a range or staff with a variety of interests and backgrounds. Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

Title and Description: Grants Manager/Development Associate (#5103) The incumbent is responsible for the development and production of grants and contract proposals to federal agencies, corporations, and foundations. Responsible for identifying new sources of funding and sustaining relationships with current funders. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Experience:One to three years progressively responsible experience in the field of development with a focus on grants management. Experience in government, corporate, foundation and major donor solicitation. Experience writing grant proposals.
Knowledge: Computer literacy. Proficient in Windows environment. Excellent organizational, management and interpersonal skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of government grant reporting requirements. Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. Sound understanding of basic resource development principles and ethics.

Youth Service America
Event: Youth Grant Opportunity

This opportunity offers $500 to youth between the ages of 15-25 or to organizations that serve engage youth ages 15-25. Successful applicants will design a service-learning project that promotes awareness about climate change and possible solutions.

The Red, White, and Green Climate Change Grant is open to all young people in the United States between the ages of 15-25 and to organizations that serve youth ages 15-25.

Applicants will be expected to develop and implement a service project about climate change that engages their community and candidates running for election in November 2006. They welcome projects where youth work in partnership with adults (parents, coaches, teachers, youth leaders, etc.), but remember this is an opportunity for youth to shine. Projects should be youth-led, and the service must take place between October 1 and November 30, 2006. Completed applications must be postmarked no later than Thursday, September 1, 2006.
