In addition, weapons will be surrendered under the guidelines of the District's weapons amnesty policy signaling an arrest to the criminal activity that plague our neighborhoods and communities. Join supporters as they promote Peace in the Streets of Washington, DC. You can join in by participating in their bike ride or spending June 11th at the Peace in the Streets event. Senior Works is a stipend volunteer program that provides opportunities for persons of retirement age by reintroducing themn into the workforce. To date, over one hundred Senior Volunteers have been placed in over forty volunteer sites throughout the District of Columbia. The perfect opportunity for the skilled retiree to re- enter the workforce. Volunteers age 55 and over are placed at various government, private and non-profit sites for a period of ninety days, with the hope that they will subsequently be hired as full-time, permanent employees.
