One of the primary missions of the universities in the Washington, DC metopolitan area is to educate their students to become engaged citizens who contribute to the public good.  By integrating community-based research and service-learning courses across disciplines and throughout curriculum development, CoRAL consortium universities are committed to becoming engaged in the community by mobilizing their educational and scholarly resources.  Whether staffing an on-campus service-learning coordinator position, financing faculty seminars on principles of community-based research, assessing students' attitudinal and behavioral changes from participation in service-learning, or reviewing tenure considerations to include service-learning pedagogy, CoRAL supports its partner universities in making community-based research an accessible opportunity for students and faculty.
