The Community Research and Learning (CoRAL) Network provides resources to catalyze community-based learning and research (CBLR) partnerships between community organizations and higher education institutions in the greater Washington metropolitan area. Using information technologies, communication strategies, and personal networking, CoRAL links community organizational needs with research interests to facilitate learning opportunities, cultivate faculty incentives, supervise student placements, promote CBLR curriculum development, and document the successes of community-based research in support of CBO's social change missions. For 2004-2005, CoRAL's programmatic focus is on professional development of university faculty, civic engagement and leadership among undergraduates, and capacity-building of non-profit service agencies to effectively utilize CBR results.
